From the Yellow House (Seat of the Venezuelan Chancellory) in (a meeting of) the National Defense Council and the Council of State, the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, signed the presidential decree for the immediate creation of the National Cybersecurity Council of Venezuela, accompanied by the Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, the High Military Command, the Attorney General of the Republic Tarek William Saab and other authorities.
This Council is created in order to confront the cyber attacks that have been directed at different platforms of the public network, which provide vital services for Venezuelans, directly affecting institutions such as the Presidency of the Republic, the National Electoral Council (CNE), the National Integrated Service of Customs and Tax Administration (SENIAT), CANTV, PDVSA and other State institutions since July 28.
It also looks to protect all technological systems in Venezuela and ensure the release of all command systems in the country, the Head of State explained.
He alluded to the importance of highlighting that all the world’s internet is produced in the US with technology companies, «it is the technological empire» and in Venezuela, through these platforms, approximately 25 institutions were affected by the cyberattack, including Ministries and State entities, Mayors’ Offices, Governorships, telecommunications companies and media outlets, among others.
In this sense, the President asked the National Assembly (AN) to accelerate the approval of anti-fascist laws against hate crimes and establish severe penalties so that in Venezuela the entire society is healed of fascism, through the development of constitutional actions to consolidate the defeat of the cyber-fascist and criminal coup d’état.
He has cited that in Miranda state alone there are more than 4,000 cases of harassment of youth leaders, street leaders, community leaders, Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP), communal councils, in Caracas there are 3,900 cases: “it is fascism, criminality and hatred that goes against the Constitution.”
