The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan People and Government, extols the full validity of the Geneva Agreement of February 17, 1966, in commemoration of the 52nd anniversary of its signing, an international treaty consecrated as the only way towards a peaceful, practical and satisfactory solution for the Parties of the territorial dispute between Venezuela and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana for the Essequibo territory.

The 1966 Geneva Accord summons Venezuela and Guyana in an unavoidable compromise to find a definitive solution to the territorial controversy, arising from the fraudulent dispossession that British colonialism perpetrated against our Homeland through the null and void Arbitral Award of 1899.

The Bolivarian Government takes advantage of this remarkable date to ratify in a decisive and unequivocal manner its communion with the object, purpose and reason of the 1966 Geneva Agreement. This wise agreement gives special preeminence to peaceful, political and negotiated means of settlement, preserving coexistence peaceful between two sister nations.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, in accordance with the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, once again manifests its firm disposition to defend the territorial integrity of our Homeland and maintain political negotiation based on the 1966 Geneva Accord. Within the Geneva Agreement, everything, outside the Geneva Agreement, nothing.

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela summons the Venezuelan people, under the feeling of national unity that saw us born as a free and sovereign Homeland, to the defense of our most sacred, legitimate and inalienable rights over the Essequibo territory.

THE SUN OF VENEZUELA IS BORN IN ESSEQUIBO!
