Head of State reiterates willingness to dialogue with the opposition

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated his willingness to dialogue with opposition sectors and opposition Governors elected on October 15, to consolidate the peace and stability of the country.

“I believe in dialogue, in words, in respect, in coexistence. I do not believe in extremism, in hatred, in violence. I said at the hardest time ‘Yes to vote, not to bullets’ “Yes to the Constituent, not to guarimbas (riots)”. And the votes imposed, the Constituent Assembly, and now have to be imposed dialogue, harmony, coexistence, peace”, he said.

From the Rios Reyna Hall of the Teresa Carreño Theater, the National President thanked the four Governors representing the (Opposition – Right wing) Acción Democraáica (Democratic Action) (AD) party, who were sworn in Monday before the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), as established by the committees.

“Nobody wants violence. We want peace, dialogue, and we want the country to advance in Revolution. The Bolivarian Revolution is the queen of dialogue and peace. I thank the Governors by the opposition”, he said.

Earlier, the Head of State held a meeting at the Miraflores Palace, with the opposition Governors of Anzoátegui state, Antonio Barreto; of Nueva Esparta, Alfredo Díaz; and Mérida, Ramón Guevara.

After the rapprochement with the regional leaders of the opposition, President Maduro indicated that a new era of coexistence with opposition sectors begins.

“A new era of coexistence, harmony and cooperation has started with an important sector of the Venezuelan opposition, I salute and applaud it. I give my generous and firm hand to the work, because extremist politics will never give good results for the country, which goes to the extreme of calling violence, intolerance and hatred, it will never give good results to Venezuela, it will always have a single destiny: political defeat”, said the President after the meeting.

He said that the Governor of Táchira state, Laydi Gomez, who was also sworn in and subordinated this Monday to the ANC plenipotentiary power, did not attend this meeting because of commitments on her regional agenda.

He assured that thanks to the support of the people, the extremist right wing is defeated.

“We have defeated the extremist right wing in the streets and in the polls, and here we are victorious. I declare the political right wing as defeated, and let them go through the world to shout their cries. We will know how to defend ourselves from the entire world if we have to, will defend ourselves from imperialism, from the right wing and its allies”, he said.
