This Wednesday, at the conclusion of the Great March commemorating the 166th anniversary of the Battle of Santa Inés in Caracas, President Nicolás Maduro affirmed that Venezuela maintains its victorious status. The president highlighted the contemporary triumph against what he called «the supremacist oligarchy» during his speech at Puente República (in downtown Caracas).
Before a large crowd gathered, the head of state proclaimed: «Under this rain, we tell the world: Venezuela remains in victory, Santa Inés is alive today in our struggles and in these victories.» These words connected the historical significance of the battle with the current political circumstances of the country.
President Maduro emphasized the leading role of the people in the ongoing construction of peace and national development: “The people demonstrates in the streets its enduring power,” he affirmed, underscoring the need to continue strengthening the nation’s organizational foundations through its cultural values and collective consciousness.
The president emphasized that with the Bolivarian Revolution came to an end the “aerial governments”, announcing the transition to a “Communal Government of Justice.” This declaration reflects the government’s vision of deepening the model of participatory and protagonistic democracy in the country.
In his address, Maduro praised the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez as a fundamental impulse behind popular organization: “Hugo Chávez brought the Bolivarian awakening and the true democratization of this society,” he stressed, linking the current historical process to the leadership of the former president.
