President Maduro commemorates 195th anniversary of Simón Bolívar’s last proclaim

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, commemorated the 195th anniversary of the last proclaim of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, emphasizing that his call to preserve unity to prevent betrayal and despair remains fully relevant today.

Through a message on his official channel on Telegram, the Head of State recalled the historical text: «195 years have passed since the last proclaim of our Liberator Simón Bolívar, in which he expressed the urgency of preserving unity to prevent betrayal and despair from returning,» wrote the President, underscoring the enduring nature of this principle.

The Dignitary affirmed that Bolívar’s legacy was not in vain: «Bolívar did not sow in the sea. His example and sacrifice were sown,» he stated, then adding that «then came the great resurrector of Bolivarianism, our beloved eternal Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías,» whom he identified as the leader who revived the libertarian ideas in the 21st century.

President Maduro indicated that, in the current context, the Bolivarian proclaim serves as a source of «motivation and morale that drives us in the battle against imperial domination.» He argued that the key to understanding the Venezuelan people’s resistance lies in the historical example: «Look to Bolívar for the morale, the spirit, the nobility, and the courage that leads us into battle.»

He also reaffirmed the relevance of the integrationist project: «Bolívar’s idea of uniting Latin America will remain relevant, and we will be nothing if we do not keep it alive in the streets, in the communes, and in the community,» he added, linking the historical ideal with contemporary political practice and popular organization.

The presidential message uses the anniversary to reinforce a narrative of historical continuity between the independence project, the Bolivarian Revolution, and the current resistance against international pressure. The figure of Bolívar is presented not only as a reference from the past, but as the moral and strategic foundation of the current political policies of the Venezuelan state.
