The Venezuelan Civil Aviation Authority announced this Tuesday that, following a formal request from the United States government, it has authorized the resumption of repatriation flights for Venezuelan citizens from U.S. territory.
The authorization was issued following instructions from the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, within the framework of the «Plan Vuelta a la Patria” (Return to the Homeland Plan) and in accordance with national and international civil aviation legislation.
Operational details of the authorization:
Operating company: EASTERN AIRLINES LLC.
Authorized route: Phoenix, Arizona (USA) – Maiquetía International Airport (Venezuela).
Flight number: EAL8280/8281.
Aircraft: Boeing 777-200.
Frequency: Weekly flights on Wednesdays and Fridays, restoring the operational schedule previously agreed upon by both governments.
In a statement released by the Ministry of People’s Power for Transportation, the Aeronautical Authority specified that aircraft with registration numbers N771KW (primary) and N825KW (alternate) are authorized to enter Venezuelan airspace for this purpose.
“The repatriation of our citizens to reunite Venezuelan families through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland Plan) will continue,” detailed the agency in its statement.
This measure represents the resumption of a repatriation mechanism that had been operating periodically, facilitating the return to Venezuela of vulnerable migrants from the United States.

“The Venezuelan Aeronautical Authority reports that it has received a request from the U.S. Government to resume repatriation flights for Venezuelan migrants from that country to Venezuela.
Therefore, by orders of President Nicolás Maduro, is authorized the entry into our airspace of aircraft operated by EASTERN AIRLINES LLC, on the Phoenix, Arizona-Maiquetía route, flight number EAL8280/8281, using B777-200 aircraft, registration N771KW (primary), N825KW (alternate), to land at Maiquetía International Airport, as has been occurring on a weekly basis on Wednesdays and Fridays, since the agreement signed between our Government and the U.S. administration.
This authorization has been issued in accordance with the laws of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and international civil aviation laws.
The repatriation of our fellow citizens to reunite Venezuelan families through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland Plan) will continue”.
