The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected in a “categorical, firm, and absolute” manner the designation of the nonexistent «Cartel de los Soles” (Cartel of the Suns) as a terrorist organization, calling the measure a «new and ridiculous fabrication» by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Through an official communiqué released on his channels on Telegram, Chancellor Yván Gil denounced this action as an «infamous and vile lie» with the sole purpose of justifying an «illegitimate and illegal intervention» against the nation.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs emphasized that this designation “revives an old strategy under the classic U.S. regime change format.» Likewise, he asserted that this “new maneuver” is destined to suffer “the same fate as previous and recurring aggressions against the country: Failure.”

With this firm declaration, Venezuela makes its position clear regarding what it considers a new escalation of aggression by the United States government, reaffirming its determination to resist interventionist policies.

Following, the Communiqué:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects in a categorical, firm, and absolute manner the new and ridiculous fabrication by the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who designates the nonexistent Cartel de los Soles as a terrorist organization, thus repeating an infamous and vile lie to justify an illegitimate and illegal intervention against Venezuela, under the classic US regime change model. This new maneuver will follow the same fate as previous and recurring aggressions against our country: Failure.

It is foolish to pretend that the Venezuelan government would waste valuable governing time to have to respond to these infamies and slanders. Fortunately, the Venezuelan people is more united and cohesive than ever, attending to national life in all its dimensions and enjoying the Christmas festivities.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela urges the U.S. government to rectify this erratic policy of aggression and threats, which has been vehemently rejected by the U.S. people themselves. These actions hinder the development of the Caribbean nations and contribute nothing to a genuine fight against illicit drug trafficking.

Once again, our people, in perfect popular, police, and military union, will know to safeguard the peace and the highest interests of our Republic. And with the Liberator Simón Bolívar, we say aloud: Peace will be my haven, my glory, my reward, my hope, my happiness, and all that is precious to me in this world.”
