Nicolás: El Origen will be screened in the country’s 5,336 communal circuits

The biographical film about the president of Venezuela, titled Nicolás: El Origen (The Origin), will be shown in all communal circuits and communes across the country as a film forum, at the request of the communities, as announced this Tuesday the Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez.

From the headquarters of the Casa de Las Letras Andrés Bello Foundation in Caracas, where a special screening was held for social movements, Rodríguez explained that this production was the brainchild of a group of young creators who, with “absolute austerity,” using their own equipment and with actors who, for the most part, had never acted before, “wanted to give a gift, a tribute to Comrade Nicolás.”

It was premiered last year and was initially conceived as a series of episodes for social media, but “then it gained tremendous momentum and ended up being shown on traditional media and alternative platforms,” he added.

In this context, the Vice President for the Social area recalled that this film was viewed on President Maduro’s YouTube channel by more than 250,000 people and then «the account was strangely taken down.» «But oh well, it doesn’t matter, because there are millions of us reproducing it,» he said.

This story will continue:

Given the film’s success and the fact that it didn’t cover the entire life of the Venezuelan president, the creators continued their research and in the coming days will present a second part of Maduro’s life, this time from when he met Commander Hugo Chávez in the Yare prison, until he became President of the Republic.

«Nicolás: El Origen» tells the story of the head of state from his birth until he met Chávez, and much of the script is based on the biographical book written by Ana Cristina Bracho.

“We want on these days, as a tribute to our great comrade Nicolás Maduro, to show the film. We have set ourselves the goal of showing it in all 5,336 communes or communal circuits, a task that the networks of social movements will carry out,” he expressed.
