Jorge Rodríguez, coordinator of the Secretariat of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, installed this November 13 the Meeting of Jurists in Defense of International Law. During his address, he emphasized that Venezuela remains a nation of peace and freedom in the face of external aggression.
The President of the National Assembly also denounced the constant aggression by the U.S. government against Venezuelan sovereignty: «With lies, they have established forms of aggression against Venezuela,» stated Rodríguez during his opening speech.
He also questioned the U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking. He described this action as «crude and violent,» using an excuse that does not correspond to the reality of the country.
The high-ranking official also emphasized that Venezuela is neither a drug-producing country nor does it have significant drug consumption problems. On the contrary, he stressed that figures from international organizations recognize Venezuela’s efforts in the fight against drugs.
The real objective of these aggressions is to bring about regime change in the South American nation: «They say it themselves, that what they want is Venezuela’s wealth» he stated during his presentation.
He reminded that Venezuela has been facing unilateral coercive measures for more than a decade. Despite this, he highlighted that the country has the highest economic growth in the region, demonstrating its resilience.
Finally, he called on jurists and defenders of international law to raise their voices. He requested their support in denouncing and defending Venezuelan peace and freedom.
