The decision, approved by the National Assembly (AN) and enacted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, aims to strengthen coordination between the military, police, and the people for the integral protection of the nation.
Starting in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Operational Zones of Integral Defense (ZODI) began implementing the presidential order. States such as Apure, Cojedes, and the capital region has already reported the activation of these commands, marking the beginning of a new phase of Plan Independence 200.
This deployment includes the coordinated mobilization of land, air, naval, river, and missile assets, along with units of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the Bolivarian Militia, and various citizen security agencies.
The recently enacted law establishes the legal framework for coordinating all agencies responsible for protecting the country against both internal and external threats. Upon signing the legislation, President Maduro ordered: “All the commands of integral defense, which bring together all public institutions of the Venezuelan State, the military, and all popular power, must be activated in the early hours of this morning.”
With this law, the structure of agencies that has emerged from the concept of Integral Defense of the Nation is institutionalized, seeking to consolidate the operational capacity of the defense system and guarantee multisectoral cohesion in the protection of the territory and national sovereignty.
