The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that the People’s Power must be characterized for being «free, autonomous, and rebellious.» This statement is produced within the framework of the fourth National Popular Consultation, scheduled for next November 23, where citizens will choose community projects.
«In here rules the Sovereign People of Venezuela!» exclaimed the head of state in a video posted on his channel on Telegram. In the popular consultation, «the vote of ordinary men and women will choose the community projects,» highlighting the participatory nature of the process.
Maduro reported that 33,091 community projects have been submitted “with absolute freedom» through the 4,856 Communes and Communal Circuits throughout the entire national territory. Advancing in the organization of the event, he revealed that 91% of the projects have already been uploaded to the system in preparation for the consultation.
The Venezuelan president strongly criticized the persistence of “political commissars” in some communities who prevent criticism of specific cases that harm the people: “That is not the method,” he warned, rejecting these control practices.
“We cannot pretend from the public office to colonize the People’s Power and the popular movement that must be free, autonomous, rebellious, and sovereign”, he stated emphatically. He stressed that the true strength of the popular movement lies in its independence.
Finally, the President underlined that the People’s Power must support genuine leaders who work to solve the community problems: “The point of equilibrium is reached with projects, ideas, leadership, and work,” he concluded, emphasizing the need to conduct politics with a capital “P,” far removed from intrigue and confrontation.
