During her participation in the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez denounced the actions by the United States (US) aimed to disturb the gas supply agreements established between Venezuela and the Caribbean nations. The senior official described these maneuvers as a threat to the energy sovereignty of the region.

In her remarks, she stated that the US government «is selling fantasies to a specific Caribbean government» with the intention of supplanting Venezuelan gas. She also emphasized the Bolivarian nation’s firm determination to defend the sovereign use of its hydrocarbon resources and advocate for shared development among its peoples.

Furthermore, the Minister for Hydrocarbons projected a significant growth in global gas demand, estimated at more than 60% by 2040. This increase will be driven primarily by economic and population development in China, India, and other Asian nations, as well as by technological advances that will increase energy consumption.

Additionally, the fundamental role of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, which represents 60% of the world’s proven reserves, was highlighted. The Venezuelan delegation reaffirmed the importance of a unified voice in ensuring market stability and the sovereignty of producing countries.
