Jorge Rodríguez: Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean is a response to colonialism

The President of the National Assembly, Representative Jorge Rodríguez, asserted that the Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean constitutes a response to the pretensions of «colonialism.»

During the debate in this Tuesday’s session, he maintained that: «It is not enough to proclaim ourselves as peaceful beings and good men and women; it is not enough to proclaim ourselves, as we indeed are, lovers of peace, but also to prepare ourselves to defend that peace.»

Rodríguez affirmed that the Venezuelan people has demonstrated courage in defending its sovereignty: «There is no event of greater courage than the active defense of our condition as Venezuelan men and women.»

He asserted that this value is precisely what the enemies of the country are attacking: «They are going head-on and brutally, trying to impose their neocolonial, fascist, and Nazi theses.»

He recalled that «the traitors, fortunately in a minuscule manner, are calling for violent actions against the country.»

Therefore, he considered it necessary for the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace to guarantee the defense of all citizens and their right to live in peace.

Finally, he reported that in the coming days, more details will be provided regarding the participation of the deputies of the National Parliament in the Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean, with the aim of incorporating legislators from the Caribbean region into the fight for peace.
