Head of State leads delivery of more than 20,000 works across the country

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, led the initial act of the massive delivery of 20,000 works across the country. This major infrastructure deployment, known as the Obratón (“Works-a-thon”), began with the inauguration of the self-government hall and project presentation in the Las Ocho Raíces Commune, located in the La Pastora parish in Caracas, marking a milestone in the completion of funded projects for community circuits.

During the ceremony, the Head of State affirmed that these 20,000 projects have been built by the communities themselves, highlighting the realization of the miracle that Commander Hugo Chávez desired: the People’s Power creating, governing, and creating. This event also commemorates the 13th anniversary of the Golpe de Timón (Blow of the Helm), a defining moment in national politics.

The marathon of works, Obratón, is a manifestation of the government’s commitment to consolidate the Communal State. Its central objective is to provide a timely response to the needs of the population, based on the results of various Popular Consultations held across the country, encouraging active and leading community participation.

During his tour of the commune, President Maduro, along with young entrepreneurs, inaugurated a sewing room and a gym, community projects approved in the Popular Youth Consultation. With these actions, he reaffirmed his commitment to Chávez’s legacy and his «Commune or Nothing!» slogan for building a new society.

The president had previously announced, on October 15, the beginning of this massive delivery during the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace. On that occasion, he emphasized that the works include sports fields, schools, health facilities, peace houses, and road infrastructure, executed directly by the people and financed by the government.

This major construction marathon represents a national effort to strengthen participatory democracy and guarantee a better quality of life for the Venezuelan people. The initiative underscores the vision of a government that prioritizes community management as a fundamental pillar for development and the solution to collective problems.
