The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized the unity of the Venezuelan people in defending the sovereign rights and historical truth of the nation. This statement was made last Friday, after the authorization granted to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to carry out operations against the country became known.
Through his official accounts on social media, he questioned the narrative that seeks to disown the interventionist history of this intelligence agency. He also recalled that this agency has maintained continuous operations through six decades in Venezuelan territory, including destabilization actions during the last 26 years.
He also gave a historical account of the methods used by the US intelligence agency in Latin America. He noted that there are declassified documents that demonstrate participation in coups d’état and the overthrow of legitimately constituted governments in the region.
The head of state characterized these actions as a psychological operation aimed at intimidating the Venezuelan population. However, he reaffirmed the strength of the people to resist these pressures and maintain their determination to protect national integrity against any external threat.
The position of the Venezuelan government represents a frontal defense of the principles of self-determination and non-intervention in internal affairs. The call made by President Maduro stresses the importance of national unity as a protection mechanism against scenarios of foreign interference.
