President Nicolás Maduro officially handed over the presidential residence «La Viñeta» as the headquarters of the Gran Misión Abuelos y Abuelas de la Patria (Great Mission Grandparents of the Homeland). This event fulfills the commitment announced last Wednesday to guarantee decent spaces for the care and recreation of older adults.

Located in Fort Tiuna, the residence was equipped to offer integral services to the grandparents of the nation. The space features game rooms, sports areas, gardens, cultural spaces for music and dance, and a court specifically designated for the Circles (clubs) of grandparents.

During the handover ceremony, the head of state emphasized that this center will serve to promote the four pillars of the Great Mission: «We must accelerate the construction of homes for grandparents throughout the country,» Maduro stated, emphasizing the need to increase the number of these facilities nationwide.

The president described the project as a profound expression of social sensitivity. «The Grandparents’ Home is one of the most humane and beautiful things we are doing, and we must multiply it by the hundreds, by the thousands,» he said before concluding with an emotional «Long live the grandparents of the Homeland!»

The official dedication took place in the company of the First Lady, Cilia Flores, and the Minister for Senior Citizens, Magally Viña. Both accompanied the president in this significant event, which reflects the government’s commitment to the elderly population.

With this action, the national government reaffirms its commitment to dignifying senior citizens through inclusive policies. The transformation of La Viñeta into a center for senior citizens strengthens the social fabric and promotes respect for the rights of this fundamental sector of Venezuelan society.
