President Nicolás Maduro called for moving beyond the Communal Circuits stage to advance toward the formation of fully self-sustaining Communes. During a discussion with the «Era Bicentenaria” (Bicentennial Era) agricultural commune in El Junquito, the president emphasized the need for these structures to evolve:
«We must move beyond Communal Circuits, which are already the most advanced, and meet the challenge of becoming Communes, and as we move forward, become a self-sustaining Commune, with self-government and strong leadership, addressing all issues: housing, housing, sports fields, education, roads, and health,» he stated.
The head of state emphasized that the foundation of this model of social organization is the People’s Power: “Only the people save the people, the people governing, exercising their political power,” he added during the event, where he was accompanied by First Lady Cilia Flores and several cabinet ministers.
To measure the progress of this goal, the national president gave specific instructions to Minister Ángel Prado. He requested to prepar in this last quarter of the year the statistics on the number of communes formed and the renewal of their spokespersons.
This data will be used to establish an estimate of progress toward the final goal. The dignitary was emphatic in reaffirming his commitment to the established timeline for the consolidation of communal power.
“We will see the closing of this year, because I have said, reiterated and reaffirmed that by the dawn of January 1, 2027, Venezuela should have six thousand communes organized, constituted, and in an advanced phase of consolidation,” he expressed.
President Maduro’s vision is to have, by the beginning of 2027, a total of six thousand operational communes throughout the country, with an empowered population directly exercising government in their territories.
