Fishermen’s militia activates six maritime mobilizations in defense of national sovereignty

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, announced this Saturday that the Bolivarian Fishermen’s Militia will activate six days of mobilization in Venezuelan territorial waters. The operations will take place off the coasts of Zulia, Falcón, Nueva Esparta, Miranda, La Guaira, Sucre, and Anzoátegui states.

Loyo explained that the fishermen integrated into the Militia remain in constant preparation and have expressed their willingness to join President Nicolás Maduro’s call through the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace: «Our men and women of the sea want to actively participate in this mechanism of defense and national unity,» he stated.

Likewise, he emphasized that the initiative responds to the commitment to safeguard the Caribbean Sea, considered the heritage of the Venezuelan people. He remarked that, while Venezuela maintains a peaceful vocation, its citizenship has full disposition to join the civil-military-police alliance promoted by the Executive Branch.

Regarding Washington’s threats, he emphasized that these generated widespread outrage among the Venezuelan people, given the violation of the sovereignty of Venezuela’s Exclusive Economic Zone, which boasts enormous biodiversity and natural resources: «We are on the front line”, asserted Minister Loyo.
