The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that the Operation Caribe Soberano 200 of the FANB has surprised the world. The military exercises in the archipelago of La Orchila demonstrate the integral capacity of Venezuela to defend its sovereignty and the right to peace of the entire Caribbean region.
The head of state emphasized that all the peoples of the Caribbean and South America have the right to self-determination and peace. From La Guaira, he demanded to cease any foreign military threat that seeks to assail the independence of Latin American nations.
In the face of international accusations, he questioned the narratives of foreign powers. He rhetorically asked whether the United States loves Venezuela to justify an invasion, or if its true objective are the country’s vast oil, gas, and mineral resources.
He dismissed the justifications for an intervention, comparing them to the false accusations of weapons of mass destruction used against Iraq. He described the narrative as a Hollywood production where they are the heroes and the sovereign peoples are the villains.
The president reaffirmed that the times of colonialism and slavery are in the past thanks to the independence heroes. He emphasized that Venezuela is a free, sovereign, and rebellious nation that will never be subjugated by any imperial power.
Finally, he linked the operation to the «3rd T» of the Plan de la Patria (Homeland Plan): Integral Defense. He emphasized that peace is defended by the union of military, popular, and police power to protect the land, sea, and sky of the Great Homeland.
