The Venezuelan National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved, in first reading, the Draft Law Approving the Treaty of Strategic Partnership and Cooperation with Russia. This crucial step paves the way for President Nicolás Maduro and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to formally sign the agreement, consolidating a far-reaching alliance.
Parliamentarian Roy Daza, during the session, highlighted the particular importance of this treaty. He emphasized that its main objective is to ensure that cooperation and solidarity between both nations extend over the long term, transcending specific political conjuncture. It is about a work projected into the future.
This agreement does not emerge in an isolated manner, but is the result of a highly dynamic, pre-existing interaction. Daza explained that the relationship has developed vigorously on the political, commercial, and diplomatic levels, reaching the highest possible level between the two nations.
In the economic and commercial scope, the treaty opens up a range of opportunities. The legislator indicated that there is an enormous potential for exploration and joint advance in this direction, suggesting that bilateral exchanges and investments will be strengthened for mutual benefit.
Beyond the bilateral scope, the ratification of this agreement has profound geopolitical implications. Daza argued that it reflects the irreversible nature of a multipolar world, a new global order based on international law, sovereignty, and equality among all states.
With the approval of this treaty, Venezuela and Russia send a strong message about the emergence of new strategic alliances that challenge unipolarity: «We will be able to say that another world is possible and we are already walking in that direction,» concluded the parliamentarian, marking a milestone in the foreign policy of both countries.
