The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, declared that bringing forward Christmas acts as a vaccine of joy and happiness against the psychological warfare that seeks to embitter the Venezuelan people. He affirmed that this measure is a spiritual call in order to seek protection:
«Moving forward Christmas is like calling on Baby Jesus, on our God to protect us,» said the Head of State.
During a global meeting with national and international journalists, the president emphasized that the acts of aggression will not affect Venezuelans, describing the population as combative and happy, facing circumstances with serenity.
He went further in his speech, affirming that if the people had to take up arms against imperialist aggression, they would do so «with serenity, security, and joy.» He maintained that he would be defending the «most sacred» cause: Venezuela’s land and history.
The president emphasized that Venezuela always exercises its legitimate right, in accordance with international law and the Constitution, to prepare for the defense of peace. He reiterated that his government is obligated to guarantee national security.
