President Maduro: Venezuela wages a great battle for truth in the face of threats to peace

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated this Monday that the country is immersed in a great battle for truth with the goal of preserving peace and its sovereignty. This declaration was made during a press conference attended by more than 47 international media outlets and 170 diplomatic missions connected via Zoom.

The president linked this struggle to the threat posed by the recent United States (US) military deployment in the Caribbean Sea. He emphasized that this situation makes it imperative to show the country’s reality to the world.

During the meeting, the head of state reaffirmed the importance of an ethical effort on the part of the media to disseminate the truth. He called for Venezuela to be portrayed as a nation with a glorious history and a pacifist essence:

May the truth be told of a country that is peaceful, pacifist in essence, that has moved forward with great effort,” asserted the President, emphasizing that the nation’s achievements are the fruit of the work of its people.

He emphasized Venezuela’s pacifist vocation, harkening back to the legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar: “We are a libertarian, truly libertarian people. In here the libertarians are us; we are a rebellious people,” he declared.

The dignitary explained that the foreign military threat, with missile ships and nuclear submarines, is the central reason for this communications battle, in order to counter these actions and preserve the nation’s peace.
