Venezuela mobilizes 25,000 FANB troops for border defense

President Nicolás Maduro ordered the deployment of 25,000 troops of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB). The measure, announced through his channel on Telegram, aims to strengthen national security and sovereignty in strategic border and coastal areas.

The mobilization seeks to strengthen the operations of the Rapid Reaction Units (URRAS) in the binational zone bordering Colombia. The deployment will cover a large territorial strip from La Guajira state to Falcón state, covering the entire western border.

In addition, the forces will also be deployed along the eastern Caribbean-Atlantic coastline. This includes the states of Nueva Esparta, Sucre, and Delta Amacuro, in an effort to consolidate the country’s maritime and territorial security across a broad geographic spectrum.

The defense of sovereignty, national security, and the fight for peace were cited as the primary reasons for this mobilization. This deployment of 25,000 troops represents one of the largest security operations in Venezuela’s recent history.

The official statement underscored the crucial role of the FANB in protecting the country, emphasizing its commitment to the nation. The statement concluded with a call for unity and patriotism: «Venezuela is defended by us Venezuelan men and women!»

This massive deployment comes amidst a context of geopolitical tensions, citing as the reason the constant threats and the deployment of US ships in the Caribbean. The mobilization not only seeks to secure the borders but also to send a clear message about Venezuela’s determination to protect its national interests.
