In a blunt message, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, declared that neither his country nor the region of Our Americas can be colonized or enslaved again. The statement was made during the 12th Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).
The Venezuelan president, through his channel on Telegram, reiterated that ALBA-TCP is made up of brave nations that prioritize solidarity, unity, and denunciation of imperialist aggression: «These values strengthen your political, ideological, spiritual, and human identity. Rest assured that nobody will ever succeed in colonizing or enslaving Venezuela or Our Americas,» he emphasized in his post.
In an audiovisual accompanying the message, Maduro called for the unity of the rebellious peoples of Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, Africa, and the world to prevail. The objective of this union, he expressed, is to defend the sovereignty and peace of Venezuela, as well as to act to protect all nations facing interference from those “who believe they own the world.»
He concluded his speech with a message of determination: «ALBA has only one destiny, brothers and sisters: to win, to be free, and to live in peace.» This phrase emphasizes the regional bloc’s central purpose as a mechanism of resistance and self-determination.
The ALBA-TCP summit served as a platform for the heads of state and government to reaffirm that Latin America and the Caribbean is a Zone of Peace. In this sense, were categorically rejected the military threats and unfounded accusations emanating from the United States, particularly those directed against the Venezuelan government. Finally, the member countries of the alliance emphasized their unwavering commitment to defending the freedom won two centuries ago. There was reaffirmed their struggle to maintain the region as a sovereign territory, free from all forms of foreign interference and faithful to the legacy of the liberating heroes.
