President Nicolás Maduro led a working meeting this Monday with governors and mayors of the Great Patriotic Pole, in which he reaffirmed the defense of national sovereignty and the rejection of the presence of foreign forces in the region.
The president stressed: «We defend our seas, our skies, and our lands, we liberate them, we monitor them, and we patrol them. No empire will come to touch the sacred soil of Venezuela, nor should it touch the sacred soil of South America.»
He questioned the establishment of US military bases in Colombia, which he described as a humiliation for the region’s independence history:
«It’s already humiliating enough that there are US military bases on Colombian soil. (It is) enough humiliation for the land to which Bolívar gave all his sacrifices.»
The head of state emphasized that the unity of the Great Patriotic Pole is essential to guarantee the country’s stability in the face of any external threat and reiterated the commitment to maintain the active defense of the nation.
