Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro met this Wednesday with opposition mayors in the Simón Bolívar Hall (of Miraflores Palace), in a meeting based on mutual respect and cooperation for the country’s development.
This meeting comes after the president called on opposition mayors to work together on a common plan for the nation’s progress in July, following the municipal elections, presenting himself as a «Worker President» close to the people. He also called on governors, communal councils, and other local authorities to join this joint effort in favor of peace, democracy, and coexistence.
During the meeting, Maduro recalled his speech at the Federal Council of Government (CFG) on August 6, where he emphasized the importance of regional and municipal leaders supporting the People’s Power with resources, machinery, and technical advice for project implementation. He also urged the strengthening of citizen security plans, such as the Peace Quadrants, to combat criminal gangs in the Communal Circuits.
At the meeting were present the First Lady Cilia Flores; Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez; the Vice President for Public Works Jorge Márquez; Minister for Transportation Ramón Velásquez Araguayán; and Executive Secretary of the CFG Leonardo Montezuma, among other officials.
