Venezuela participates at the 2nd UN Food Systems Summit in Ethiopia

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela attended the Second UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4) in Ethiopia, a key forum for promoting inclusive, resilient, and sustainable food systems, in line with the 2030 Agenda. The Venezuelan delegation highlighted its commitment to the global food transformation.

The national delegation, comprised of Deputy Minister Fidele Franco Manrique and Director Daniel Garrido, participated in high-level sessions, sharing Venezuelan public policies to guarantee the right to food, even amid structural challenges.

Venezuela presented the advances achieved under the Plan de la Patria 7T (7T Homeland Plan), promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, highlighting the strengthening of productive drivers, sustainable agriculture, and local production as pillars for achieving food sovereignty.

During the event, the delegation denounced the impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures (UCM), describing them as an obstacle that exacerbates food insecurity and violates international law. Venezuela demanded their immediate lifting to protect millions of affected people, especially in the Global South.

With this participation, Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to fair, sustainable, and diverse food systems, defending peoples’ right to a balanced diet.
