Head of State urges youth not to let their guard down after revolutionary achievements

President Nicolás Maduro acknowledged the advances of the Bolivarian Revolution in the local elections of July 27, where they won 85% of the mayoralties (285 municipalities) and 75% of the local Legislative Councils, highlighting the leading role of youth. However, he warned: «There are reasons to celebrate, but not to relax.»

He highlighted that, along with the 50 mayoralties held by the opposition, the 335 municipal authorities are already in office, with young leaders around 30 years old: «This generation must surpass the previous ones, with work capacity, professional and ideological training, and practical skills,» he stated from Miraflores Palace during a meeting with the Youth General Staff.

Maduro envisioned thousands of volunteers building projects chosen in the Youth Popular Consultation, calling on organizations such as the Great Patriotic Pole and the Great Mission Young Venezuela. He also highlighted the work of the Antonio José de Sucre International School of Youth Leadership, which has trained 3,549 young Venezuelans and Latin Americans, and proposed expanding the goal to 54,000.

In contrast to what he called «fascism’s pursuit of young people for violence and conspiracy,» Maduro emphasized his commitment to developing future leaders for the country.
