Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro celebrated with the people the results of the elections on July 27, in which the candidate of the Simón Bolívar Great Patriotic Pole, A/J Carmen Meléndez, was reelected for the 2025-2029 term (as the Mayor of Caracas).
The president described the results as a «historic victory for the forces of the Bolivarian Revolution,» after confirming the victory in 285 of the country’s 335 mayoralties, according to data from the National Electoral Council (CNE).
From the Plaza Bolívar (Bolivar Square) in Caracas, Maduro highlighted the electoral progress compared to previous elections: «We went from 212 mayoralties in 2021 to 285, supported by the popular vote.» He also emphasized his pride in the citizen participation and reaffirmed that this result consolidates an unprecedented achievement for the Bolivarian movement.
Recognition of the opposition and call for joint work:
The head of state also congratulated the 50 opposition mayors elected on July 27, urging them to join in the work on behalf of the communities.
«As Constitutional President, I welcome the efforts for the country,» he said.
He also reiterated that the results showed 285 municipalities were irreversibly consolidated and described the process as a triumph of the popular will, reflected at the polls.
