The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, warned that the world is facing a third unconventional world war, marked by geopolitical conflicts rather than direct armed confrontations. During an interview with TeleSUR, the president explained that this war is taking place in the economic, diplomatic, and military spheres, reconfiguring global power relations.
He noted that, although there is no traditional military conflict, tensions between powers and strategic interventions are evidence of a struggle for hegemony: «Behind every armed conflict there are economic interests, especially those of the major arms dealers,» stated Maduro. He also denounced the United States’ efforts to encircle China and Russia to provoke conflicts on its borders.
The head of state criticized US influence in the region, mentioning the governments of Bukele (El Salvador), Noboa (Ecuador), and Milei (Argentina), whom he described as «servile to the empire.» According to Maduro, Washington seeks to impose its hegemony in Latin America, weakening the autonomy of countries.
Regarding the conflict in Gaza, Maduro questioned the passivity of organizations such as the International Court of Justice and the UN, while thousands of civilians suffer. «While people fall in search of a piece of bread, global institutions remain silent,» he denounced, reflecting on what he considers an ignored humanitarian crisis.
Despite the tensions, President Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to peace and dialogue. «The people of the world want peace, not war,» he declared, urging reflection on the true desires of societies. He also expressed confidence that Russia and Ukraine will find reconciliation, attributing the conflict to external interventions.
Finally, the dignitary described the current situation as the «birth pains» of a new world order. Calling for unity and diplomacy, he insisted that, despite adversity, peace will prevail over the geopolitical interests that currently divide the planet.
