Venezuela supports initiative to address the genocide against the Palestinian people

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as a member of The Hague Group, expressed its support and optimism for the convening of a Special Emergency Ministerial Meeting, promoted by Colombia and South Africa. This meeting seeks to coordinate urgent actions to stop the atrocities suffered by the Palestinian people.

In an official statement, Venezuela emphasized that the crisis in Palestine is not a recent event. Although a phase of brutal extermination has worsened since October 2023, with approximately 60,000 dead, 138,520 injured, and thousands more under the rubble, the genocide has its roots in 1948, with the Zionist occupation. Since then, Palestine has faced forced displacement, land dispossession, blockades, repression, and terror, policies carried out by a colonial and criminal regime.

What is happening today in Gaza, Rafah, Nablus, and the whole Palestine is not a conflict between equal parties, but a systematic plan to destroy a people, eliminate their identity, and erase their memory. It is a crime against humanity,” as states the document.

Furthermore, Venezuela condemned the role of the Western powers in supporting these crimes by sending weapons, financing, surveillance technology, and diplomatic support, all aimed at strengthening a military enclave in the Middle East.

In this way, the country reaffirms its commitment to the Palestinian struggle and values global efforts to achieve justice, dignity, and peace for a people who have resisted decades of occupation and violence.
