The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a meeting this Sunday with the prominent Japanese architect Riken Yamamoto at the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural Center (in Caracas). The goal is to strengthen the planning of more humane and inclusive cities in the country.
During the meeting, the two exchanged ideas to promote architectural projects aimed at community well-being: «A productive meeting. We have work ahead of us to promote architectural development and the well-being of the people,» stated the president on social media.
As part of this collaboration, two initiatives designed by Yamamoto will be implemented by the “Juntos Todo es Posible” (Together Everything is Possible) Corporation in the Petare and San Agustín parishes in Caracas, as part of the urban renewal plan previously announced by the government.
In parallel was presented the book «The Space of Power, the Power of Space» by Japanese architect Yamamoto at the 21st Venezuelan International Book Fair (Filven). It is worth noting that last February, Yamamoto visited the comprehensive renovation of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) with officials from the Presidential Commission.
Previously, the expert also met with the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, at the vertical gymnasium in Carbonell (Catia), where they analyzed the communal model and the architectural features of this sports facility.
