China-Venezuela relations expand with more than 500 joint projects

The China-Venezuela Expo, inaugurated by President Nicolás Maduro this Friday, July 4, celebrates 51 years of bilateral relations. From Simón Bolívar Park in Caracas, the exhibition highlights more than 500 joint projects, solidarity during the pandemic, and a strategic «Total Proof and At All Times” alliance toward an innovative future.

This event, which symbolizes the strength of more than five decades of diplomatic relations and cooperation between both nations, also featured the presence of a prominent Chinese delegation led by Ambassador Lan Hu. This expo reaffirms the achievements and the promising future of this bilateral relationship.

A look at bilateral cooperation:

President Maduro, accompanied by Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, First Lady Cilia Flores, and other authorities, toured the exhibition spaces at the Simón Bolívar Park conference center. These spaces showcase the fruits of a relationship that has generated more than 500 joint projects, either executed or at various stages of development, and more than 640 projects financed by the Development Bank and the China-Venezuela Fund, ranging from infrastructure to technological advances. This cooperation was carried out within the framework of the High-Level Joint Commission initially promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez.

A relationship that transcends borders:

During the event, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez emphasized that the relationship between China and Venezuela «is expanding» and has positively impacted the quality of life of both peoples. During the COVID-19 pandemic, China demonstrated its solidarity by sending millions of free vaccines and doctors to Venezuela, becoming the first country in the region to receive this aid. This gesture strengthened the bonds of brotherhood, based on respect for sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.

For his part, Ambassador Lan Hu, on behalf of President Xi Jinping, highlighted in his speech the strategic «Total Proof and At All Times” partnership, established in 2023 following the Venezuelan leader’s visit to China for the 17th High-Level Joint Commission. This alliance marks a new chapter of comprehensive cooperation in areas such as technology, health, education, and community development, aligning with Venezuela’s Seven Transformations Plan and China’s initiatives for the Global South.

A united front against global challenges:

Ambassador Lan Hu also recalled that both countries have faced adversities together, including unilateral sanctions imposed by foreign powers. The senior Chinese official reaffirmed China’s and Venezuela’s commitment to upholding international equity and justice, supporting the rights of developing countries. This unity has allowed both nations to move forward «against all odds,» consolidating a resilient and visionary relationship.

The China-Venezuela Expo not only celebrates past achievements but also projects a future of innovation. Cooperation focuses on initiatives such as strengthening the Communes and the 1×10 System of Good Government, aligned with the development strategies of both countries. This event demonstrates the mutual commitment to building a more just and sustainable world. From infrastructure projects to cultural exchanges, the expo is a window into the potential of a relationship that has not only overcome challenges but continues to grow toward a splendid future.
