Diosdado Cabello Rondón, Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security, and Peace, denounced that the conspiracy plot that has been unraveling since December in Venezuela is closely linked to sectors of the ultra right wing linked to drug trafficking:
“This is a plot thatr is cohesive; here the politics of Venezuelan right-wing have completely lost their shame, their scruples, there are no scruples. They use drug trafficking money to purchase weapons, explosives, hitmen, bandits, and terrorists,” he stated at a press conference, in which he recalled the arrest of Mr. José Enrique Rincón, linked to María Corina Machado, who used his shrimp farms for drug trafficking from Zulia state.
He specified that, as part of this operation, authorities arrested and brought to justice a group of mayors, as well as SENIAT officials, police officers, and personnel working at various customs offices.
At the same time, he mentioned that, as part of this operation, were initially seized more than 500 different types of rifles.
He took the opportunity to question the media that have an accomplice silence about these events: «We have said this several times and we will continue to insist on this issue; in fact, we have said that when the New York Times publishes this, then they will start to believe it,» he said.
