The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, described the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Volker Türk, as a politicized and biased official with an agenda contrary to human rights.
During the Zona Digital (Digital Zone) segment of his “Con Maduro+” program of this Monday, the head of state asserted that the High Commissioner has ignored the specific complaint he personally discussed with him regarding the 252 Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador and of 18 Venezuelan children in the United States.
The Venezuelan president highlighted the work of the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, who has launched a campaign to denounce what he considers the degradation of the High Commissioner’s office, stating that «it has been hijacked and politicized by Mr. Volker Türk.»
Along these lines, the President added that Türk also disowns the murder of children, men, and women in Palestine, the bombing of Lebanon and Syria, and the murder of innocent people around the world:
«For him, they don’t exist. There is only the script that is dictated and written for him by the State Department in Washington,» stated the Venezuelan president, while applauding the campaign launched worldwide to demand Türk’s resignation.
