Attorney General Tarek William Saab reported this Friday that the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has decided to immediately initiate a new criminal investigation against Juan Guaidó, in response to audiovisual material recently disseminated by media outlets and social networks, in which is affirmed that he deliberately and fraudulently offered the payment of an oil revenue commission of five hundred thousand euros (€500,000) per month for a period of three years to high-ranking officials of the Spanish government in exchange for their recognition of Guaidó as the alleged «interim president» of Venezuela.
«In this audio recording, in which high-ranking Spanish government officials and a former ministerial advisor participate, they reveal the existence of a transnational criminal plot orchestrated by Juan Guaidó and foreign political actors, which sought to illegally negotiate national public assets, specifically income derived from the Venezuelan oil industry, under the control of companies operated by agents illegally appointed during his criminal fictitious government,» emphasized Saab.
Given the seriousness of the revealed facts, the Attorney General announced that he has appointed prosecutors with exclusive jurisdiction over anti-corruption matters, who will carry out the corresponding actions to immediately request an arrest warrant against Guaidó from the competent courts, as well as the issuance of an international red alert through INTERPOL, with the aim of having him brought before the Venezuelan justice system.
INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL WITH MULTIPLE CORRUPTION PROSECUTIONS:
This new case adds to the 29 cases the Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed against Guaidó for crimes of usurpation of functions, money laundering, treason, and criminal conspiracy, among others, forming a systematic pattern of criminal practices that seek to undermine the constitutional and economic order of the Republic.
