Bolivarian Government announces strategic plan to transform Zulia state and strengthen cooperation with Colombia

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced an ambitious plan to consolidate a solid economic foundation in Zulia state, with the goal of boosting the productive sector and strengthening binational cooperation with Colombia.

During the inauguration of Governor Luis Caldera, the President reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a Binational Economic Zone between Zulia state and Colombia, with the possible inclusion of Táchira state. This initiative seeks to boost economic growth and regional development, promoting integration and shared prosperity.

The head of state highlighted Zulia’s capacity to become an economic power, and stated: «From here, I reaffirm that very soon we will be able to sign the establishment of this zone, because we are on the path to recovering Zulia’s economy.»

President Maduro emphasized that this project is part of an integral strategy to consolidate peace and strengthen cooperation with the neighboring country.

«To build peace integration in Colombia contributes to the stability of South America and Venezuela,» he stated. In this regard, he reiterated Venezuela’s willingness to collaborate with Gustavo Petro’s government in the peacemaking efforts in the region.

The President also reported on measures to boost Zulia state’s internal development, including strengthening the hospital system and improving road infrastructure:

«If Zulia state grows, so will Venezuela. We are going to impulse the work and the economic development in the region. More than 4.5 million workers support this effort,» he emphasized.

Plan to impulse Zulia state:

Boosting economic development through the Seven Transformations (7T): Innovative strategies will be promoted to contribute to regional and national progress.

Reactivation of the hospital network: An integral plan to strengthen public health and guarantee quality care for all the people of Zulia state.

Improvement of public services and roads: Rehabilitation of roads and optimization of basic services to improve mobility and quality of life.

Restoration of coastal communications: Strengthening of the maritime connectivity to boost trade and regional integration.

The swearing-in ceremony was marked by the enthusiasm of the community of Zulia state, who see this plan as an opportunity to transform Zulia into a powerful region. With this project, the National Government seeks not only to boost the local economy but also to consolidate a model of binational cooperation that benefits both countries.
