The Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, asserted that the July 27 elections will be «a popular celebration.»
This was stated on his «Con El Mazo Dando» (Hitting with the Hammer) program on the evening of Wednesday, June 11, where he dismissed the unfounded criticisms from the opposition extremists against this new electoral process, in which Venezuelans will elect mayors and municipal councils:
«The elections of last May 25 were under threat, and that’s why they’re now asking, ‘How is it possible that another one will be held?'» he said, while highlighting the holding of the third popular consultation for youth projects on the same July 27.
«We’re going to have the addition of the Youth Popular Consultation for youth projects, which will make it a popular, communal, youthful, and popular celebration,» he added.
People proposed more than 155,000 names for candidates:
Cabello reaffirmed that the People proposed more than 155,000 names for candidates for the municipal elections on July 27th in the Popular Consultation:
«The popular consultation was held in 47,000 communities (…) and more than 155,000 names were proposed. Where did those names come from, from an office we have? No, the People proposed them,» Cabello said during his «Con el Mazo Dando» program on its edition number 530.
He also reaffirmed that «comrades from the Great Patriotic Pole, Social Movements, and anyone who wanted to participate, participated without any problem» in the consultative assemblies held last Saturday throughout the country.
At the same time, he noted that by Monday, 95% of the communities had already uploaded the data of the men and women nominated by the People into the CC200 System.
