President Maduro calls to consolidate popular democracy in elections on June 27

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called to consolidate popular democracy in the upcoming elections on July 27, where mayors, council members will be elected, and the National Youth Popular Consultation will also be held.

At the inauguration ceremony of Adán Chávez Frías as governor of Barinas state, the Head of State explained: «July 27 will be Venezuela’s 33rd election. We have to rescue all the mayoralties, one by one. We must explain that there is a constitutional election and consultation with the Communal Circuits for the projects of the youth and for the youth.»

The President reiterated that Venezuela has innovated in methods to empower the people as rulers: “The people as president, the people as governor, the people as power. That is the strategy: People’s Power, educating, forging, and consolidating it throughout the country.”

He also denounced the fact that the former governor of Barinas state, Sergio Garrido, spent more time traveling to Cúcuta, Bogotá, and Miami, plotting against Venezuela, than actually serving the people: “The US empire believed that applying formulas would defeat Venezuela, but they didn’t count on the creative force of the invincible people. They haven’t been able to defeat us, and they never will.”
