“We have a governor in these Venezuelan lands, for the first time in history (…) At this moment, we are writing a history; Has born the political warrant of our state of Guayana Esequiba,” stated the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, at the swearing-in of the first governor of Guayana Esequiba state, Neil Villamizar.
Accompanied by the President of the Legislative Council, Arsenio González, and in the presence of the representatives of the 24th state of the Bolivarian nation, in the city of Tumeremo, Vice President Rodríguez highlighted two historic events that mark the truth of Venezuelan territory:
“When we were born as a Republic, we already had this territory, with a title, a legitimate right. The second great truth was the theft and plunder committed by the English.”
Rodríguez also emphasized that the Federative Republic of Guyana has never been entitled to Venezuelan territory and never will, because there can be no title to a theft and plunder: “We will defend this territory with our lives, and the United States government should also be very clear about this: We will never give up a single square meter.”
Governor: I will take action for prosperity:
For his part, the governor-elect of Guayana Esequiba, Neil Villamizar, reiterated his commitment to creating the conditions that will allow for a solution to the dispute, which must be resolved as part of the Geneva Agreement:
«I will comply with and enforce the national Constitution and the laws of the Republic to implement and enforce the Organic Law for the Defense of Guayana Esequiba and all necessary actions to bring development, prosperity, and Venezuelan identity to all the inhabitants of our territory,» he stated during the swearing-in. The governor also noted that they will carry out projects related to roads, electricity, health, transportation, and all public services.
