This Sunday, June 1, the indigenous peoples of Venezuela elected three representatives to the National Assembly, following their ancient customs, as established by the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela. The names of the triumphant parliamentary representatives were announced by the national president on the 81st edition of his «Con Maduro+” program:
«These ancient customs, combined with the most advanced automated and technological electoral system in the world, allowed the indigenous peoples to elect their representatives to the National Assembly,» said the national president.
«I’m going to give here breaking news to the CNE, if you’ll allow me. So I’m being informed that the indigenous peoples of western, southern, and eastern Venezuela have elected Arly González, the Wayuu indigenous woman, as their representative from the western region, yesterday,» he explained, noting that González is a longtime activist.
He also indicated that Yesenia González, of the Pumé people, was elected as representative for the southern region of the country: «Young people, experienced people, but still quite young,» he said, after mentioning the second representative of the indigenous peoples.
Finally, Pedro Requena, from the Kariña community and from southern Anzoátegui state, was elected as representative from the eastern region of the country: «Venezuela is an example of justice, democracy, and inclusion,» stated President Maduro.
We respect the opposition:
The head of state took the opportunity to recall that the Bolivarian Revolution, following its victory on May 25, held a mobilization last Saturday to celebrate not only an electoral victory, but also peace and stability for the nation:
«The people has celebrated in the streets the triumph of peace, stability, and the fact that what’s coming is better. The people knows that what’s coming is better with the great victory we’ve had,» he maintained.
He emphasized that, with the victory, he doesn’t disown the opposition, but rather respects it: «The opposition exists. Now the common oppositionist knows, they know that we respect them, that we have never lied to them, and that things will go well for them with us,» he said.
