The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called this Thursday on his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, to join forces to build a peaceful economic development zone on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, emphasizing that, on the Bolivarian Government’s side, this territory is free of organized crime.
During a work meeting with the Chavista Political-Military High Command and elected authorities, he stressed the importance of working on projects that will strengthen security levels with patience and sound methods, because from Colombia are looming constant threats: drug trafficking, terrorism, and conspiracy.
“Those people are there plotting and they don’t rest, they never rest because that oligarchy has sworn against the people of Bolívar for more than 200 years, ever since Santander’s betrayal, which attempted to kill Bolívar and which participated in the plots to kill Antonio José de Sucre, proven in the Bogotá trials,” recalled the President.
In this regard, he urged the Colombian head of state to join forces to liberate the entire border: “It’s already liberated on the Venezuelan side. They’re waiting for President Petro to coordinate and build a zone of peaceful economic development on the Colombian border. We are in a position to do so, because Venezuela has advanced democratically,” he said.
In this regard, he recalled that both nations share more than 2,000 kilometers of the common border, which, under the Revolution, has been liberated from violent groups and criminal acts.
