Venezuela participates in Global Security Meeting

A delegation from the Bolivarian Government is participating in the 13th International Meeting of Senior Officials Responsible for Security Affairs, which took place until Thursday in Moscow, Russia.

The event began on Tuesday the 27th and was chaired by His Excellency Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, who opened the event by showing a welcome video from President Vladimir Putin. His Excellency Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, also participated in another video.

The Venezuelan delegation was led by General José Adelino Ornelas Ferreira, Secretary General of CODENA, accompanied by General Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Russian Federation, Vice-President Edward Simón Vergel Tortolero, Military, Naval, and Air Attaché of Venezuela to the Russian Federation, and Col. Arlex Ali Padilla Ávila, member of the Delegation.

The event is an international platform for the exchange of views on issues related to global security and mechanisms to strengthen cooperation among partner countries in the fight against international terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, as well as new challenges and threats.

The event is held at the Russian National Center with the participation of delegations from more than 100 countries, with Venezuela playing a fundamental geostrategic role in the region.
