«What a ridiculous thing coming from a government that is groveling and sycophantic to the Americans,» was the response by Chancellor Yván Gil after the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility issued a statement «recommending» Ecuadorian citizens not to travel to Venezuela.
The statement states that «the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility recommends that Ecuadorian citizens not travel to Venezuela, given the ‘serious risk of arbitrary detentions’ and the lack of due process guarantees.» He also recalled «the unilateral decision of the Venezuelan government to request the withdrawal of Ecuadorian consular personnel in October 2024. This situation prevents assistance from being provided to Ecuadorians residing or in transit in that country.»
A few days ago, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the inauguration of the University of Communes, sent a powerful message to the Ecuadorian people, expressing his solidarity and conviction that they will overcome the difficult times they are going through: «To the brotherly people of Ecuador: although dark times may come, the thought of Bolívar will prevail over the mafias and the usurper Rafael Noboa,» he added.
In this regard, he called Daniel Noboa a «usurper and fraud,» and asserted that he is “in the service of the Colombian drug mafia and the Albanian mafia.» He also expressed his confidence that «sooner rather than later, the people of Eloy Alfaro and Manuela Sáenz, the people who saw the armies of Bolívar and Sucre, will return to their legitimate path.»
