Venezuela and China strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation from Moscow

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, accompanied by his delegation, held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in Moscow, Russia, with the aim of strengthening the ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between the governments of Venezuela and China were established in 1974. Since then, they have strengthened considerably under the administration of Commander Hugo Chávez, and have become a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two peoples.

Currently, the Asian giant is the Bolivarian nation’s main trading partner and the largest investment destination in Latin America. In terms of trade and economy, China is Venezuela’s main partner, with imports exceeding $1.7 billion.

Regarding investment, the South American country is the largest investment destination with the Asian nation. Meanwhile, in strategic agreements, more than 600 have been signed in various areas, such as the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), where progress has been made in the development of strategic sectors in La Guaira and Shenzhen.

It is worth noting that the «A Toda Prueba y a Todo Tiempo» (Total Proof and All Weather) alliance emerged in 2023 when it was signed with the aim of deepening bilateral cooperation between the two nations. This alliance took place as part of President Nicolás Maduro’s official visit to the Asian country, where he visited several provinces where the development of the ZEE was determined.
