A total of 174 Venezuelan migrants returned to the country this Friday from El Paso, Texas, as part of the Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland) Plan, an initiative of the Bolivarian Government aimed at ensuring the safe and dignified return of Venezuelan citizens.
The US flight that arrived at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, La Guaira state, was received by Captain Diosdado Cabello, Vice President of the Sector for Policy, Security, Citizenship, and Peace. He stated that 3,646 persons have returned to Venezuela in recent days:
“It’s an extraordinary effort. An effort of coordination, of teamwork, and it’s in line with the instructions given by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to return our fellow citizens.”
He indicated that, currently, there is a history of abuse, persecution, and lies against Venezuelan migrants: “We are lovingly welcoming Venezuelans, and have asked them to send the families complete and not separate them,” he added.
Maikelys Espinoza Case:
Furthermore, Diosdado Cabello, Minister for Interior relations, Justice, and Peace, emphasized that the Venezuelan government is making every effort to return Maikelys Espinoza, kidnapped by the United States government, to the country:
“It’s a fight for the family, for the most sacred thing a nation has, which are its children. They [the US] have kidnapped and stolen a Venezuelan girl. It is said that this procedure has been repetitive, and more children are being separated from their parents. I hope they get awareness of the children they have kidnapped in that country.”
He denounced the double standard by the United States government, which loudly claims to defend human rights around the world; however, he stated that this argument is not true: “One observes that this is the behavior of those who truly care absolutely nothing for the lives of human beings, much less for the constitution of Venezuelan families or families around the world,” he noted.
Finally, Diosdado Cabello indicated that 142 men and 18 women arrived on this 17th flight of the Vuelta a la Patria Plan, including six mothers with their children, and eight children in the flight: «We strongly demand the return and surrender of Venezuelans kidnapped in the United States and El Salvador,» he emphasized.
Cabello reported that this Friday afternoon, the 18th flight of the Vuelta a la Patria Plan would arrive at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, La Guaira state.
