President Maduro celebrated first anniversary of the Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán Great Mission for Science, Technology, and Innovation

At the Venezuela Más Ciencia (Venezuela More Science) Science and Technology Park, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, celebrated the first anniversary of the Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán Great Mission for Science, Technology, and Innovation, as part of historic advances in the consolidation of the scientific ecosystem.

This Great Mission was created with the objective of highlighting the progress of the Great Mission, supporting national development through ancestral knowledge and science, for the advancement of the 13 economic drivers of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda; in addition to including, unifying, and integrating the knowledge production of Venezuela, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world.

In addition, it was established to promote the inclusion of Venezuela’s brilliant generation, who are comprehensively served through the Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán Great Mission for Science, Technology, and Innovation, recognizing them as key young people for the country’s future.

The creation of the Great Mission is part of the Great Missions of the New Generation, to advance the five action pillars that aim to enhance the nation’s research capabilities.

The vertices that comprise it are the following:

Vertex 1: Sowing and preserving national scientific talent.

Vertex 2: Strengthening spaces for scientific research, development, and innovation.

Vertex 3: Science, technology, and innovation for production.

Vertex 4: Venezuela towards digital transformation.

Vertex 5: International cooperation and alliances.

These focal points also aim to attract new talent, generate early career opportunities, provide training, and develop solutions to the needs of the people.

Among the authorities who accompanied President Nicolás Maduro at this meeting were the First Lady, Cilia Flores; the Minister of People’s Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez; the governor of the Bolivarian Miranda state, Elio Serrano; the Minister of People’s Power for University Education, Ricardo Sánchez; and the Minister of People’s Power for Productive Agriculture and Land, Julio León Heredia.
