Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez denounced on Friday that the sanctions imposed by the United States government have forced the Chevron oil company to return crude oil shipments to the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) due to its inability to meet established payments:
“Due to the economic war initiated by the US government against oil companies, Chevron has returned crude oil shipments to PDVSA, given the impossibility and restrictions imposed on it to pay Venezuela for them,” stated Rodríguez through her digital platforms.
Rodríguez emphasized that the crude oil returned by the transnational company is being marketed by Venezuela in international markets. In this context, she assured that the country will continue to respect the contractual terms and obligations signed with all foreign companies operating in the energy sector:
“PDVSA will respect the contractual terms and obligations agreed upon with transnational corporations. There are laws in Venezuela, and they are to be respected,” stated the vice president.
She also reaffirmed that, despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the US, “no power will prevent our country from working and advancing forward. Venezuela shall overcome!” she concluded.
