Venezuela’s Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, expressed Venezuela’s firm rejection of the threats and warmongering intentions of Guyana’s President, Irfaan Ali, backed by the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK), against our sovereignty:
«Venezuela rejects and protests the warmongering intentions of the Caribbean Zelensky, Irfaan Ali. Guyana threatens Venezuela with its founding fathers,» she stated on her channel on Telegram.
She denounced the United Kingdom and the US as the architects of the territorial dispossession of our Guayana Esequiba, referring to the same actors who forged a fraudulent award to dispossess Venezuela in 1899.
For this reason, she called on the international community to remain vigilant against these actions that seek to destabilize the region: «We alert the region to these bellicose drumbeats, in clear violation of the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace,» she noted.
At the same time, she reaffirmed that «Venezuela will be firm in defending its legitimate rights, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in all scenarios that arise. The sun of Venezuela rises in the Essequibo!»
The Executive Vice President’s statements were made in light of the fact that last Saturday, April 12, Guyana and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation between the two nations.
