On the occasion of the Day of National Dignity, the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, emphasized that Venezuelans reaffirm their resistance in defense of their democracy and sovereignty against the threats of imperialism:
«On this date, we reaffirm our resistance and unity in defense of democracy and sovereignty, especially in the face of the constant economic aggression our people face from a declining empire,» he expressed through his channel on Telegram.
He specified that the Day of National Dignity is a source of pride for revolutionaries because it wrote an indelible page in the history of Venezuela, in which the people and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in a civic-military unity, rescued their leader.
He recalled that in 2002, fascist groups attempted a coup d’etat against President Hugo Chávez, with the aim of overthrowing the Bolivarian Revolution and thus impose a dictatorship with the support of the United States.
